The government’s pursuit of celebrity athletes can best be characterized as a witch-hunt in most cases. A notable exception is the case of Roger Clemens. Anthony Galea HGH Smuggling Case Turns into Celebrity Athlete Witch-Hunt

Canadian doctor Anthony Galea, a sports medicine pioneer who has treated professional athletes from a variety of sports, has pleaded guilty to illegally smuggling performance-enhancing drugs into the United States and providing them to athletes from the National Football League and the Professional Golfer’s Association. Galea admitted to routinely smuggling human growth hormone (hGH) and Actovegin across Peace Bridge at the United States – Canadian border. One of the most famous athletes treated by Dr. Galea was golfer Tiger Woods.  [Read more…]

UFC Fires Nate Marquardt for Testosterone Replacement Therapy Problems

Mixed martial artist Nate Marquardt acknowledged using the anabolic steroid testosterone for medically-supervised testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) during an appearance on MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on June 28, 2011. He was treated with testoterone injections after his primary care physician discovered that Marquardt’s serum blood testosterone levels were low. Ultimate Fight Championship’s Dana White fired Nate Marquardt due to what he considered a questionable need for TRT after he was suspended by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission prior to a June 2011 fight with Rick Story. Treasure Coast Pharmacy Raided by Drug Enforcement Agency

Treasure Coast Pharmacy, a Florida-based compounding pharmacy well known in the bodybuilding community for compounding custom formulations of anabolic steroids, was raided by several U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents early on Tuesday morning.
