Pete Rose Doesn’t Know What a Steroid Looks Like

Pete Rose, the former Major League Baseball player, was asked about the prospect of players from baseball’s so-called “steroid era” being inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Next year Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa will become eligible for the Hall. Wade Boggs Doesn’t Want Steroid Users in the Hall of Fame

An apparently popular source of “news” for sports writers seems to be interviewing retired Major League Baseball players and asking for their thoughts on the sport’s “steroid era”. The money question is whether or not baseball players linked to anabolic steroids should be allowed into the Hall of Fame. Reggie Jackson, Goose Gossage, Mike Piazza (if his wife is to be believed), Dave Henderson, George Brett, Curt Schilling and Morgan Ensberg have been vocal in their opposition to anabolic steroids. Mike Piazza Thinks Roger Clemens Used Steroids According to His Wife

Mike Piazza, a former Major League Baseball catcher, believes Roger Clemens used anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) if his wife is to be believed. While a TMZ cameraman was attempting to interview Piazza, his wife interrupted and told TMZ that her husband beleived Clemens used steroids. TMZ speculated that Alicia Rickter, an actress and model who posed nude as the 500th Playboy Playmate as Miss October 1995, was under the influence of alcohol when she put Piazza in the awkward situation. Reggie Jackson Picks and Chooses Which Steroid Users Can Be in Hall of Fame

Reggie “Mr. October” Jackson recently told Sports Illustrated that he felt anabolic steroid use disqualified Major League Baseball players from consideration in the Hall of Fame. If a steroid user was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers Association of America, Jackson predicted that their induction would be boycotted by current Hall of Famers. Jackson didn’t feel his friend Alex Rodriguez belonged in the Hall of Fame. Surprisingly, he could see athletes like Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte making the cut. [Read more…]

Judge Releases Names of Jurors in Roger Clemens Steroid Trial

United States District Judge Reggie Walton released the names of all eight women and four men (along with four alternates) who served on the Roger Clemens jury. The names were provided in response to a Washington Post application filed shortly after the jury acquitted the former Major League Baseball player of all six counts of obstruction of Congress, false statements and perjury. Marlon Byrd Suspended for Taking Tamoxifen

Major League Baseball player Marlon Byrd has been suspended for fifty games after violating the MLB Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Byrd tested positive for tamoxifen. Byrd subsequently admitting using tamoxifen and reported obtaining it from a “lifestyle coach” in Florida. [Read more…]

Goose Gossage Thinks Roger Clemens Lied About Steroids

Rich “Goose” Gossage, the Major League Baseball relief pitcher who was inducted into the Hall of Fame after an impressive 22-year career, believes Roger Clemens lied about his use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH). Clemens was recently acquitted on all six counts of obstruction of Congress, false statements and perjury. The jury verdict notwithstanding, Gossage still believes Clemens used steroids. Roger Clemens Acquitted on Steroid-Perjury Charges as Jury Rebukes Feds

It took a jury only one full day of deliberations after listening to arguments in the nine-week perjury trial of baseball legend Roger Clemens. Clemens was accused by the government of lying about the use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH) when he appeared before Congress in 2008. The Justice Department charged him with six counts of obstruction of Congress, false statements and perjury. The jury acquitted Clemens of all charges. [Read more…]

Dave Henderson Didn’t Use Steroids Because He Had “Good Parents”

Dave “Hendu” Henderson, the former Major League Baseball outfielder who spent time playing for the Oakland Athletics between 1988 and 1993, doesn’t think any anabolic steroids should be voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Henderson appeared on “The Wheelhouse with John Lund”, a sports talk radio show in San Francisco. He told Lund that baseball players who used anabolic steroids, including former teammates, are cheaters. And cheaters are not Hall of Famers. [Read more…]
