WADA Says Mafia-Organized Crime Pushing Steroids in Sport

David Howman, the director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), believes that “mafia-organized crime” is responsible for pushing anabolic steroids in sports. Missourian Bodybuilders Accused of Importing hGH, Trenbolone, Testosterone

Two Missourian bodybuilders were indicted for one felony count of conspiracy to possess and distribute human growth hormone (hGH) on November 9, 2011. The Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri alleged that Gregory Loomans and Keith Ashabranner imported hGH and the anabolic steroids trenbolone and testosterone from China, used some of the product themselves and sold the rest to other bodybuilders. Buy-Steroids-Direct-Asia.com Busted in Thailand

The Pattaya Police Crime Suppression Division arrested a British citizen for his involvement in an online website selling anabolic steroids and sexual enhancement drugs at Buy-Steroids-Direct-Asia.com. Neil Patterson-Hartley was arrested in Thailand on November 3, 2011 after a lengthy investigation into the website. Pattaya Police decided to arrest him after they failed to capture his boss a month earlier. [Read more…]

DEA Wants to Classify Superdrol and Prostanozol as Schedule III Anabolic Steroids

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) wants to add Superdrol (methasteron) and Prostanozol to the Controlled Substances list. They have argued that these steroid compounds meet the criteria for Schedule III Anabolic Steroids as defined by the Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 2004. Something Better Than Steroids Discovered by Salk Institute?

Competitive athletes and bodybuilders may soon be able to add something better than anabolic steroids to their muscle-building and performance-enhancing arsenal of drugs. The Salk Institute has announced a new way to build muscle by suppressing a natural muscle growth inhibitor. Norfolk Police Officer Admits Selling Steroids at One Life Fitness

Norfolk Police Officer Kristen Wayne Harris pleaded guilty last week to two felony counts of posession and distribution of anabolic steroids. He admitted to selling steroids, syringes and marijuana to an undercover police officer outside of the One Life Fitness gym in Virginia Beach. [Read more…]

Female Track Athletes Explain Winstrol and Dianabol Positives

Six female track athletes from India are trying to explain why they tested positive for anabolic steroids in May and June 2011. The six top female 400 meter sprinters in India appeared before the India National Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel to describe the “exceptional circumstances” that resulted in the presence of Dianabol and Winstrol metabolites in their urine samples. Masters Athletes Represent One-Third of Steroid Users Caught by USADA

Over one-third of athletes testing positive for anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs are masters athletes. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has suspended nine masters athletes for doping violations in 2011; four of those athletes were in their fifties and sixties. Many of those athletes were only guilty of using steroids therapeutically as part of a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) protocol. [Read more…]

Alabama Police Officers Suspended for Anabolic Steroid Testosterone

Four officers with the Scottsboro Police Department in Alabama were suspended without pay for their use of the anabolic steroid testosterone. The Scottsboro police chief and mayor initially refused to identify the officers or disclose the reasons for their suspensions citing it was an internal matter. Less than a week later, the internal matter became a matter of public record when one of the suspended officers admitting using steroids during open court in a divorce hearing. [Read more…]

Steroid Conviction Gets Four Year Suspension for British Shot-Putter

British shot-putter Carl Fletcher was suspended from competition for four years by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD) after being convicted of trafficking anabolic steroids. Fletcher pleaded guilty to supplying 16 different types of performance-enhancing drugs including human growth hormone (hGH) and the anabolic steroids testosterone and Trenbolone. Steroids are categorized as a Class C drug in the United Kingdom. Fletcher was sentenced to nine months in prison by the Liverpool Crown Court. [Read more…]
