Steroid laws prohibiting the use of anabolic steroids were passed largely in response to the widespread use of steroids in competitive sports. The anti-doping movement had hoped that prohibiting steroids would deter athletes from using these “illegal” drugs. The criminalization of anabolic steroids has had little impact on steroid use by athletes. The steroid laws have rarely been used to prosecute athletes involved with doping. Bodybuilder Goes Free Because He Was Hard-Working and Industrious Steroid Dealer

Polish bodybuilder Mariusz Bak pleaded guilty to the possession of class C anabolic steroids with intent to supply and the importation of steroids. During sentencing, a British judge decided to allow Bak to go free after concluding that Bak was “hard working and industrious” and did not fully understand the potential harm of selling steroids. The Pattaya Police Crime Suppression Division arrested a British citizen for his involvement in an online website selling anabolic steroids and sexual enhancement drugs at Neil Patterson-Hartley was arrested in Thailand on November 3, 2011 after a lengthy investigation into the website. Axis Labs Charged with Mail Fraud for Selling Steroids in “Monster Caps”

Colorado-based Axis Labs was charged with one criminal count of “mail fraud and aiding and abetting” related to their manufacture and distribution of the product “Monster Caps”. Axis Labs is accused of marketing the products, containing illegal synthetic designer steroids, in a manner showing they intended the product to affect the structure and function of the human body. This made “Monster Caps” an unapproved new drug product subject to regulation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration according to prosecutors. [Read more…]


Alabama Doctor Indicted for Selling Anabolic Steroids from an Underground Lab

Alabama doctor Mark Peter Koch, D.O. pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to distribute anabolic steroids and conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids. Koch was indicted on federal charges along with three other men. Koch appears to be the connection between the three men. French Steroid Source Pleads Guilty to Selling Steroids in the United States

A French-Moroccan bodybuilder who operated an internet steroid distribution ring in the United States while living in France has pleaded guilty to illegally importing and distributing anabolic steroids. Karim Mourahib was responsible for soliciting orders over the internet from France and ordering bulk quantities of anabolic steroids from China. He directed his Chinese supplier to ship the steroids to his partner in Tennessee who handled product fulfillment. Mourahib’s role in the operation focused primarily on internet sales. [Read more…]
