Stockton Police Department and Participation in Steroid Black Market

The arrest of a California police officer on suspicion of steroid trafficking has prompted an internal investigation of potential anabolic steroid use by officers in the Stockton Police Department. “Darrin Fa.” was arrested last month after his own department ordered surveillance on his activities and busted him in possession of significant quantities of anabolic steroids in an undercover sting operation.

The numerous headlines about steroid use among law enforcement around the country has led to Police Chief Blair Ulring conducting a department-wide investigation even though there no evidence has been reported suggesting involvement by additional officers.

Most journalists reporting on the problem of cops and steroids usually focus on the alleged association between anabolic steroids and aggression in popular culture even though the scientific evidence for such a connection is tenuous. Man Pleads Guilty to Selling Steroids with Fake Prescription Labels

Michael Wozny pleaded guilty to possessing anabolic steroids with the intent to distribute. An investigation by the local sherriff’s department, the FDA Office of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Inspection service uncoveredapproximately one kilogram of steroid powder after a search warrant was executed at his residence in November 2007. Cyclist Commits Suicide Amidst Steroid / Doping Investigation

Alberto Leon, a former mountain bike racer, was found dead in his home outside of Madrid in what appeared to be a suicide.  Leon was one of several people implicated in Operación Galgo (Greyhound). Operación Galgo is the codename for a Spanish doping investigation that uncovered large quantities of anabolic steroids, stored blood bags and medical equipment used for transfusions during raids across the Iberian peninsula last year by La Guardia Civil.
