Treasure Coast Pharmacy Indicted Along with Doctors Who Wrote Steroid Prescriptions
An investigation into Treasure Coast Pharmacy codenamed “Operation Juice Doctor 2” has resulted in the indictment of thirteen individuals. The arrests come several weeks after the pharmacy was raided by federal and state agents in June 2011. The co-defendants face charges for the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids, human growth hormone and oxycodone. Treasure Coast Pharmacy was one of the largest suppliers of anabolic steroids in the United States according to the government. The indictment named the principal owners and pharmacists associated with Treasure Coast. Prosecutors also took the additional step of charging the owners and “sales consultants” of anti-aging and hormone replacement clinic owners who used Treasure Coast to fill steroid prescriptions for their clients. Feds Indict Owners of South Beach Rejuvenation and LA Health and Rejuvenation
The owner of a once-popular hormone replacement therapy clinic was arrested this week for the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids over the internet but this was the least of his worries. Jeffrey George started selling steroids through his South Beach Rejuvenation clinic in 2006 but it was his involvement in a chain of Florida pain clinics that has made him the focus of federal investigators. Treasure Coast Pharmacy, a Florida-based compounding pharmacy, was one of the largest suppliers of anabolic steroids in the United States according to state and federal investigators. Treasure Coast was raided last month after a joint investigation by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Florida Department of Health. Mixed martial artist Nate Marquardt acknowledged using the anabolic steroid testosterone for medically-supervised testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) during an appearance on MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on June 28, 2011. He was treated with testoterone injections after his primary care physician discovered that Marquardt’s serum blood testosterone levels were low.
