Lance Armstrong Asks Audience to Assume He Used Steroids

American cyclist Lance Armstrong recently asked an audience to imagine a scenario in which the allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs were true. Several former teammates of Lance Armstrong has claimed to have direct knowledge of his use of the anabolic steroid testosterone, human growth hormone and the blood booster erythropoeitin (EPO). Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis and Frankie Andreu have all accused the seven-time Tour de France champion of doping. Teammate George Hincapie also allegedly make similar allegations before a federal grand jury investigating Armstrong. [Read more…]

NABBA World President Defends Steroid Use in Bodybuilding

Graeme Lancefield, the president of the National Amateur Body Builders Association (NABBA), defended the use of anabolic steroids in bodybuilding competitions in a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. Canadian Football Player Suggests Media Misrepresented Facts in Steroid Case

Jordan Matechuk publicly apologized to the Canadian Football League, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats franchise and his friends and family a few days after pleading guilty to the possession of anabolic steroids and marijuana.  Matechuk was arrested after customs officials busted him  in possession of 543 steroid tablets and 263 milliliters of injectable steroids. His attorney advised him to avoid answering questions while his legal case was still pending. Matechuk, hoping to rehabilitate his image, nonetheless decided to answer a few questions in an interview with the Associated Press. [Read more…]

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt Gets His Anabolic Steroids from Yams!

Errol Morrison, M.D., Ph.D., the president of the University of Technology in Jamaica, believes that naturally-occurring steroids in the yellow yam contribute to the success of sprinters like Olympic champion Usain “Lightning” Bolt. Dermatologists on the Look Out for Steroid Users

The use of anabolic steroids can lead to an increase in acne, particularly on the back, in some users. The fact that this particular steroid side effect manifests itself in the skin has led one dermatologist to recommend the investigation of athletic patients who present with clinical signs of acne, rosacea, seborrhea, alopecia or hirsutism.

Michael Scott M.D., an associate professor of dermatology at the Western University of Health Sciences, believes detecting anabolic steroid use in patients gives clinicians an opportunity to teach them about the dangers of steroids and teach them about the relationship between steroids and acne. Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik mentioned the term “anabolic steroids” 29 times in his 1,500 page manifesto entitled “2083: A European Declaration of Independence”. Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco’s Steroid Dealer Busted by FBI in 1992

An anabolic steroid dealer who supplied Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco was busted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during a federal steroid investigation codenamed Operation Equine in 1992. Former FBI Special Agents Bill Randall and Greg Stejskal arrested Curtis Wenzlaff who provided the federal government with evidence linking McGwire and Canseco to steroid use. Roger Clemens Off the Hook for Allegedly Lying About Steroids?

The government’s court case against Roger Clemens for lying about the use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone went down in flames after federal prosecutors made a colossal mistake that forced the judge to declare a mistrial. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Roger Clemens is off the hook. Canadian Football League Yawns as Player Pleads Guilty to Steroid Possession

Canadian football player Jordan Matechuk has pleaded guilty to the possession of anabolic steroids and marijuana after being busted with significant quantities of steroids by the United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) at the United States – Canada international border.  Matechuk faces up to two years imprisonment on the felony steroid count and up to one year on the misdemeanor marijuana count. WWE Wrestler “Sin Cara” Tests Positive for Anabolic Steroids

Professional wrestler Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde, currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the name “Sin Cara”, received a thirty day suspension after violating the WWE Talent Wellness Policy in June 2010. Urive was the first recruit by Paul “Triple H” Levesque as the head of the new talent development department.

Urive had only been with the WWE for a few months before he tested positive for anabolic steroids. Urive previously worked for several years in Mexico’s “lucha libre” under the name “Mistico” where he gained considerable fame and popularity working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
