Specifically, he experiences nightmares regarding the fallout from the revelations in his book “Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant Roids, Smash Hits and How Baseball Got Big”. Steroid Testing Officer Responds to Ryan Braun’s Sabotage Allegation

Dino Laurenzi, Jr., the drug testing officer who collected the urine sample that resulted in a positive steroid test result for Ryan Braun, has responded to allegations that he sabotaged the doping sample. Laurenzi vehemently denied tampering with Braun’s sample. Furthermore, the WADA-accredited laboratory that analyzed the sample has confirmed that there was no evidence of tampering. [Read more…]

Who Goes to Prison for Selling Steroids?

Steroid laws prohibiting the use of anabolic steroids were passed largely in response to the widespread use of steroids in competitive sports. The anti-doping movement had hoped that prohibiting steroids would deter athletes from using these “illegal” drugs. The criminalization of anabolic steroids has had little impact on steroid use by athletes. The steroid laws have rarely been used to prosecute athletes involved with doping. Non-competitive athletes and recreational bodybuilders are the ones who have suffered the consequences of violating these laws. [Read more…]

Doctor Gets Probation After Wife Tells FBI About His Steroid Use

Dr. Mark Peter Koch was sentenced to five years probation for possession with intent to distribute anabolic steroids and conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids. He was also sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a $10,000 fine.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) initiated its investigation of Koch after receiving a tip from his estranged wife claiming that he was involved with black market steroids. [Read more…]

Ryan Braun Suggests His Sample Was Sabotaged with Steroids

Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun has impugned the character of drug testing officer Dino Laurenzi in order to protect himself from being tainted by a positive steroid test result. Braun suggested Laurenzi may have sabotaged the urine sample he submitted immediately after Game 1 of the 2011 National League Division Series. [Read more…]

Ryan Braun Escapes Steroid Suspension on Technicality

Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun promised that there would be “highly unusual circumstances” that would explain his positive steroid test. He had tested positive for an elevated testosterone-epitestosterone (T:E) ratio in October 2011. An elevated T:E ratio is a putative indicator of exogenous testosterone use. Unfortunately, we may never hear about those “highly unusual circumstances” now that Braun has escaped the 50-game steroid suspension on a technicality. Independent arbitrator Shyam Das ruled in his favor when he side with the MLB players’ union and upheld Braun’s appeal. [Read more…]

Chris Brown Accuses Wrestler CM Punk of Using Steroids

Chris Brown accused World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) heavyweight champion CM Punk of using anabolic steroids and suffering from steroid-induced impotence on Twitter last weekend.  “CM Punk” is the wrestling stage name used by Phillip Jack Brooks. The steroid accusation was made in response to Punk’s criticism of Brown for his brutal physical assault of Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards. Chris Brown became the poster boy for domestic violence after he sent his then-girlfriend Rihanna to the hospital with multiple contusions, a bloody lip and nose and a black eye. [Read more…]

Top Norwegian Fitness Site and Gym Linked to Steroid Bust

Two major figures in the Norwegian world of bodybuilding have been detained for allegedly selling anabolic steroids according to the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN). Sør-Trøndelag Police have alleged that popular local fitness experts Robert Eilertsen and Gunnar Strand Jacobsen were two of the men allegedly involved in selling steroids on the private internet website called “Anabolic Forum”. Two steroid sources known as “Guru” and “Karma” were accused of offering doping products to several thousand members of the forum. [Read more…]

USADA Continues to Waste Taxpayer Money on Lance Armstrong Witch-Hunt

Federal prosecutors have ended the criminal investigation of seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong. The investigation examined evidence that Armstrong’s U.S. Postal Service pro cycling team used anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs during the time it received government sponsorship. While the investigation may have involved steroids, its focus was on whether federal conspiracy, fraud, witness tampering and/or racketeering laws were violated. [Read more…]

Nebraska Doctor Avoids Jail for Writing Steroid Prescriptions

Nebraska doctor Raymond Heller has avoided prison for his role in the criminal case involving the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids by the Max Life anti-aging clinic. Heller pleaded guilty to prescribing the testosterone outside the usual course of professional medical practice. United States District Judge Claire Eagan sentenced Heller to five years of probation with the first eight months under house arrest and 100 hours of community service. [Read more…]
