Police Officer Used Status as Cop to Smuggle Steroids Into Canada

Geoff Purdie, a constable with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), has pleaded guilty to smuggling anabolic steroids from the United States into Canada. The estimated street value of the drugs involved was reported to be $580,000. Purdie entered the guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Richard Arcara in Buffalo, New York. Purdie avoided the more serious charge of “conspriacy to export controlled substances with the intent to distribute.” Still, the steroid smuggling offense carries a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment. Tennis Star Andy Murray Says Steroids Not as Big a Problem in Tennis as Other Sports

Tennis superstar Andy Murray has been sensitive to the criticism his sport has received incidental to the cycling doping scandals. He readily admits that tennis could do more about doping to ensure that tennis is completely clean of steroids and related performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). World Record Holder Patrick Makau Denies Story Linking Him to Steroids and EPO

The fastest marathon runner in history has responded to doping allegations made by the German press. Patrick Makau, the world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:38, did not explicitly deny using anabolic steroids, erythroipoietin (EPO) or any other performance-enhancing drug (PED). Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus as well as the President of the National Olympic Committee, has been on a rampage after his country failed to meet expectations at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. It probably didn’t help matters that the only Olympic medalist caught using steroids was from Belarus. The most powerful man in Belarus happens to be a rabid sports fan. Lance Armstrong has been under fire from all directions since the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) released its report revealing the systematic and organized use of anabolic steroids (testosterone) and performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) by the United States Postal Service pro cycling team. Steffen Kjaergaard, a retired professional cyclist from Norway, couldn’t watch all of Lance Armstrong’s teammates confess to doping without joining the party.
