Gold Bull Pharma Busted in New Mexico Again

The Albuquerque Police Department has busted the apparent owner of the underground lab (UGL) that manufactures anabolic steroids under the “Gold Bull Pharma” label. KOB Eyewitness News 4 has included a picture of a steroid vial with a Gold Bull Pharma label in their news account of the bust.

The APD’s Eastside Narcotics Team went to the home of Ruben Jaramillo Jr. armed with a search warrant. When Jaramillo did not answer the door, police entered by force.

Police discovered a large-scale clandestine laboratory in plain sight. Almost 200 vials of injectable anabolic steroid, an unspecified number of oral tablets and 2 kilograms of unprocessed steroid powder were found at the scene. Police estimated that each vial had a street value of $100 even though Gold Bull Pharma steroids retail on the internet at prices between $25-40.

APD Sgt. Patrick Ficke believed that everyone in the household was fully aware of the steroid operation. Jaramillo is married with three children. Jaramillo’s wife is also facing charges for her involvement with Gold Bull Pharma.

Ruben and Claudine Jaramillo were previously arrested last year on similar steroid charges. In 2010, the Jaramillo’s were primarily resellers of various steroids and ancillary drugs that they imported from Egypt and Cyprus. However, they were said to have manufactured their own steroids after converting cattle pellet implants. This is most commonly done to extract trenbolone acetate out of the veterinarian product Finaplix; the extracted trenbolone is prepared as an injectable solution for use by bodybuilders and athletes.

They were busted the first time around after U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted an international package containing approximately 1,000 units of anabolic steroids. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and the local post office arranged a controlled delivery and arrested Jaramillo and his wife on August 12, 2010. Deputies reportedly found several thousand steroid tablets and vials as well as thousand of empty vials. The steroids were sold on the internet and locally at the “Defined Fitness” gym in Albuquerque.

The charges against Jaramillo and his wife from the August 2010 arrest are still pending.

The latest arrest originated when Jaramillo ordered raw steroid powder from China according to KOB Eyewitness News 4. It is unknown if Jaramillo’s name and addressed were flagged by customs due to his previous arrest.
