Moustache Cream Results in Positive Steroid Test for Japanese Rugby Player

A Japanese rugby player probably wishes he had used anabolic steroids to enhance his performance, much like other athletes who use steroids, after it was revealed that his desperate desire for a moustache was the cause of a failed steroid test. Ryohei Yamanaka had been planning on representing Japan in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand in September.

The Third Largest Newspaper Company Calls Clenbuterol a Steroid and Compares it to Cocaine

Clenbuterol is not an anabolic steroid. Let me repeat that. Clenbuterol is not a steroid. After almost a decade of witch-hunts involving athletes using performance-enhancing drugs, you would think that most journalists would have a basic understanding of anabolic steroids. Just because a drug is a performance-enhancing drug (PED) doesn’t make it an anabolic steroid. Yet journalists seem to inaccurately identify PEDs such as human growth hormone (hGH), erythropoeitin (EPO) and clenbuterol as anabolic steroids when they have no pharmacological relation to the substances. With the media failing to do the most basic research on these substances, it is no wonder that most laypersons mistakenly assume that all performance-enhancing drugs are anabolic steroids; they are ignorant to the wide variety of drugs that comprise the banned substance list because the journalists who write about them are ignorant too. In separate cases, he faced three felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance under Texas law as well as a steroid possession charge in Kendall County. State and federal prosecutors seemed prepared to crack down on the corruption and participation of a veteran law enforcement officer in an illegal steroid distribution network. [Read more…]

Norfolk Police Officer Arrested for Manufacturing and Selling Steroids

The use of anabolic steroids by cops has been a prominent topic in the national news lately. Recent criminal and internal affairs investigations have examined the use of steroids by law enforcement in various States including New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Michigan, TexasCalifornia and Oregon. However, some criminal cases have exposed a greater deal of corruption in which cops are actually manufacturing and/or distributing anabolic steroids.

Norfolk Police Officer Kristen Wayne Harris was arrested in Virginia Beach and charged with ten felony counts of manufacturing and/or selling anabolic steroids  and one count of selling or distributing marijuana. [Read more…]

Clenbuterol Threshold Discussion Opens Door to Major Changes in WADA Anti-Doping Protocol

Bodybuilders have used clenbuterol for its well-known fat loss properties and its purported anabolic properties ever since Dan Duchaine recommended the substance over two decades ago. Clenbuterol is a well-known drug within the bodybuilding world but has remained largely unknown to the mainstream up until recently.

The news that Tour de France champion Alberto Contador tested positive for clenbuterol at the 2010 Tour de France added a new drug to the public’s lexicon of performance-enhancing drugs. [Read more…]
