Tour de France Becomes More Dangerous as Doping Decreases

On the eve of the 2012 Tour de France, the most prestigious annual race in professional cycling, Eric Niiler of Discovery News makes the argument that doping (the prohibited use of erythropoietin, anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, etc) has decreased. Judge Releases Names of Jurors in Roger Clemens Steroid Trial

United States District Judge Reggie Walton released the names of all eight women and four men (along with four alternates) who served on the Roger Clemens jury. The names were provided in response to a Washington Post application filed shortly after the jury acquitted the former Major League Baseball player of all six counts of obstruction of Congress, false statements and perjury. Marlon Byrd Suspended for Taking Tamoxifen

Major League Baseball player Marlon Byrd has been suspended for fifty games after violating the MLB Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Byrd tested positive for tamoxifen. Byrd subsequently admitting using tamoxifen and reported obtaining it from a “lifestyle coach” in Florida. [Read more…]

Musclebear Steroid Source Sentenced to Imprisonment in United States

The Ukrainians Oleksandr “Musclebear” Skochyk and Yvgeniy “Eugene” Suray have each been sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in United States federal prison. They previously pleaded guilty to charges related to the distribution of anabolic steroids to residents of the United States. “Musclebear” was an international steroid source based in the Ukraine. His organization shipped steroids to both individual customers and domestic remailers located in the U.S. The court outcome represents one of the limited successes in the federal government’s internationalization of its “war on steroids”. AXS Fitness Busted for Steroid Sales According to Spanish Authorities

Spain’s Guardia Civil has arrested four men involved in the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids during an investigation codenamed “Operación Gym”. The steroid dealing allegedly operated out of a sports nutrition supplement store in the Madrid suburb of Las Rozas. The owner and an employee of ‘AXS Fitness Nutricion Deportiva’ were arrested at the store and two other individuals were arrested at their homes on June 5, 2012.  [Read more…]

Steroid Dealer Pays Austria One Million Euros to Avoid Extradition to USA

The United States government has had a major setback in their case against the mastermind of an internet steroid distribution empire that allegedly generated close to €40 million. Mihael Karner has successfully avoided extradition to the United States. Karner paid Austria €1 million to allow safe passage back to his home country of Slovenia. [Read more…]

Steroids Cited in Downfall of Gay Porn Icon Erik Rhodes

Anabolic steroids have been cited in the death of gay pornographic film star Erik Rhodes (born James Elliott Naughtin). Rhodes died from an apparent heart attack in his sleep at age 30 on June 14, 2012. Steroids didn’t necessarily cause his death. There were many other drug, including crystal meth, that were part of his lifestyle. Yet, the fact that people are blaming steroids isn’t surprising since Rhodes’ last post on his personal blog described the alleged mega-doses of steroids that comprised his current cycle. Goose Gossage Thinks Roger Clemens Lied About Steroids

Rich “Goose” Gossage, the Major League Baseball relief pitcher who was inducted into the Hall of Fame after an impressive 22-year career, believes Roger Clemens lied about his use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH). Clemens was recently acquitted on all six counts of obstruction of Congress, false statements and perjury. The jury verdict notwithstanding, Gossage still believes Clemens used steroids. [Read more…]
